Creative Direction
With its relaunch in 2014 the Jeep Cherokee would appear at many events and roadshows across the country. The time that potential customers have with products at these events is fleeting so providing ways to extend the time spent on a stand allows for longer dealer to customer interaction.
Most owners will never get the opportunity to truly put a SUV through its paces but that doesn’t mean that they don’t want to. We will use this sense of adventure to align Jeep with modern technology in a way that provides an eye catching talking point.
Downhill dash is Oculus Rift VR experience taking place on a fictional mountain in the mist of winter. Using a wifi steering wheel players can jump into the Jeep Cherokee and race to the bottom of the mountain, overcoming various obstacles along the way. The portable VR experience can be used for roadshows, events or in-store. Proving particularly popular with families the VR experience allowed the dealer or brand rep to talk to the customer whilst their children have a go at racing down the mountainside.
The project successfully showcased the product, aligned the brand with new technology and provided something different to use at events. The VR experience proved so popular for UK events its use was expanded from original remit into European events including the Geneva and Moscow motor shows.
The Jeep website housed a downloadable version for PC users and later a non-interactive Google cardboard version was created to use for handouts.
